Register soon: Mandatory Training

In 2023, the KLEFPF eligibility requirements found at KRS 15.440(1)(j) (Online Emergency Vehicle Operations Course -Mandatory Training) started its new two-year training cycle (2023-2024).  For an agency to remain KLEFPF eligible, every sworn law enforcement officer must take this four (4) hour course between January of 2023 and December of 2024.

Because DOCJT‘s resources are understandably limited, it can only offer this class once a month. Each DOCJT asynchronous online class is capped at five hundred (500) students such that instructors can provide appropriate support.  So far, enrollment for 2023 has been extremely low.

For agencies to remain KLEFPF eligible, approximately 8,000 law enforcement officers must meet this mandate by attending this DOCJT training.  If the majority of officers wait until 2024 to complete this requirement, it may be expected that DOCJT will not have enough staffing resources to meet the demand.  To best utilize its resources in support of law enforcement, ensure agencies remain KLEFPF eligible, and prevent the need for auto-enrolling officers, DOCJT strongly encourages agencies to fully utilize its current emergency vehicle operations course offerings to avoid the possibility that a seat may not be available for them in 2024.

Register for this course following normal protocol in Acadis. For questions about the training, please contact DOCJT Skills Branch Manager Rob Ramsey at (859) 622-5946.
