Jennet Sullivan, Master Telecommunicator and licensed instructor, will be the guest speaker for the Navigating Domestic Violence Calls: The Role of the Telecommunicator course on Monday, Aug. 31. This course is hosted by ZeroV.
This free training will be hosted in Frankfort (WHERE?) and online (WHAT SITE?). It is designed to help telecommunicators and emergency communications professionals strengthen their response to domestic violence incidents through practical guidance and real-world strategies. The Southern Police Institute in Louisville will host its First-Line Supervisor Course, Nov. 16-Nov. 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This course is designed to bridge the gap from officer to supervisor with this 40-hour course designed to build a solid leadership foundation for new and aspiring first-line supervisors. Instruction covers leadership, ethics, evidence-based policing strategies, personnel development, employee wellness, and supervisory liability — the essentials for succeeding in your first command role. The Southern Police Institute in Louisville will host an 80-hour Homicide Investigation course Jan. 4-Jan 15, 2027, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course is designed to learn to properly investigate all death cases – from natural and accidental to homicidal – through this intensive, hands-on course. Work in small teams examining crime scenes, forensic evidence, and case preparation using real investigative scenarios. Tuition for this KLEC-certified course is $1,627. This accredited, 12-week in-residence program covers law enforcement administration, problem solving and administrative law – with 12 university credit hours earned upon completion. The University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute will host its 157th Administrative Officers Course Feb. 8-May 7, 2027. The Administrative Officers Course is a 12 week (480 hour) in-residence, accredited college level educational program. The course curriculum is designed to develop informed, effective, ethically and technically competent law enforcement managers who can assume positions of leadership in their respective agencies. This training is for Kenton County for law enforcement officers, first responders, public health professionals, behavioral health providers, and community partners. The course provides practical instruction on deflection principles, de-escalation, substance use and mental health awareness, referral pathways, and strengthening connections to community-based services. Core learning areas include:

Substance use disorder science, stigma and language.
Overdose prevention, naloxone and outreach engagement.
Situational awareness, safety and de-escalation.
