DOCJT Adds New LETRS Report to Help Agencies ID Approved Training
The Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) has introduced a new reporting feature within the Law Enforcement Training Records System (LETRS), giving agencies access to information on Kentucky Law Enforcement Council (KLEC)-approved training opportunities offered outside the traditional LETRS registration system.
The new Reports link is now available to agency administrators and registration personnel when they log into LETRS. While DOCJT plans to expand the reporting capabilities in the future, the only report currently available is the Outside Curriculums report.
“The new forms feature in LETRS will allow agencies to be able to run specific reports for their organization,” DOCJT Staff Assistant Patrick Miller said. “The current report that is available allows agencies to identify outside non-DOCJT courses that they can send their officers to and get credit for toward their hourly requirements for certification. They just need to verify that the course they are sending their personnel to is the one that KLEC has approved.”
The report lists KLEC-approved curricula offered by organizations outside the LETRS registration system, including external training providers such as KACO and IPTM. Although these courses have been approved for KLEC credit, many are not open to public registration and may have enrollment restrictions established by the training provider.
Agencies can use the report to identify courses that may qualify for KLEC training credit before registering personnel. Because courses with similar titles or those offered by organizations other than the approved provider may not be eligible for certification credit, users are encouraged to verify that the course they plan to attend is KLEC-approved.
DOCJT recommends contacting KLEC to confirm course eligibility before committing agency funds for registration or travel. The report also serves as a planning resource to help agencies identify additional training opportunities not listed in the LETRS registration system.
Additional reports will be added to the Reports section as new features are developed and implemented.
