Advanced CIT for KY LEN is a forty (40) hour curriculum designed to provide the CIT Officer with advanced knowledge and skills to enhance encounters with persons with mental illness, Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, Co-Occurring Disorders and Substance Use Disorders. Instructors with expertise in mental health and law enforcement will be focusing on information, strategies, support and communication skills to effectively engage vulnerable persons. Suicide Prevention/Intervention, Legal Information related to CIT Encounters and E- Crisis Reporting are some of the topics presented in this course. Video review of incidents/discussions related to CIT will be part of this course.

ATTENDEES: Any peace officer or instructors
PREREQUISITES: The peace officer or instructor eligible persons/ entities who are eligible to attend pursuant to KRS 210.365 must successfully complete the KY Crisis Intervention Team Training Program (40- hour course) or an equivalent course completed within the Commonwealth of Kentucky, as a prerequisite and subsequently approved by the Executive Director of the KY Crisis Intervention Team.
