One-Day Kenton County KY Deflection Training

The Kentucky Deflection Academy is offering a free, one-day training on Aug. 19, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Kenton County Detention Center Training Room, located at 3000 Decker Crane Lane in Covington. This training is for Kenton County for law enforcement officers, first responders, public health professionals, behavioral health providers, and community partners. The course provides practical instruction on deflection principles, de-escalation, substance use and mental health awareness, referral pathways, and strengthening connections to community-based services. Core learning areas include:

  • Deflection Principles and the six pathways.

  • Substance use disorder science, stigma and language.

  • Overdose prevention, naloxone and outreach engagement.

  • Situational awareness, safety and de-escalation.

  • Scenario-based practice and responder wellness.

Participants will take part in interactive discussions, scenario-based exercises, and receive a certificate of completion, access to online training materials, and continuing education credits. Register here.
